Misty Falls by Joss Stirling! Review coming...
On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood. She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine. An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains. Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince. Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night. Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- What can I say about this book? It was utterly enticing. It was a book that captured my attention from the very beginning. The chemistry between Sofia and Derek is amazing, the development of their romance fascinating and beautiful. The character development within the book is written and created really well and as the climax of the story builds, the more character development we see. Forrest has done an excellent job of writing a story so different that is leaves the reader begging for more by the end. The plot so well constructed that it surprised me by the levels at which Forrest had creatively taken this book to. With so many amazing things, I find I can't wait to read the rest of Forrest's series and hopefully find that her other books are just as enticing, as well written and as well constructed as this one has been. A Shade of Vampire is one of the best books I've read and is a book you Must Read Before You Die!! A well written book by an amazingly talented author! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Note* This book was given to me by the author (Bella Forrest) as an ARC over a year ago. It has taken me a long time to finally post this review and I want to apologise hugely to Bella for this. New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Nalini Singh is passionate about writing. I read this book a few days ago and I finished it from cover to cover in two days. I've even heard from various people that there has been mixed reactions to Singh's latest release (Not including Rock Courtship which is a novella - I'm currently reading that one). Lets be totally honest. I think the less 'enthusiatic' reviews of this book from other readers is envy. I understand their envy, they read Singh's work and think, 'I wish I could write like this!' I've no idea why people wouldn't love this book! It's amazing! Call me bias or call me crazy, but I really enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry between Fox and Molly and I feel while they certainly enjoyed playing between the sheets, this book wasn't based hugely on sex. For those who've already read the book, you may be thinking, 'Is she serious?' Yes, I am. Rock Addiction didn't follow the same storyline as most of Singh's well publicised books. There was no real antagonist, no life-threatening situations and certainly no paranormal in the mix. The storyline is fictional, yet it follows the mimetic styles, bringing a sense of realism to the story. It's an amazing change of Singh's writing styles - especially those we're used to - but in my opinion, I think this just proves just how good a writer Nalini Singh is. Molly's character is amazing. I felt an instant connection to her and I loved how she had a wild side that she tries to keep under wraps - I tried that once... it was the worst hour of my life and my parents thought I'd lost the plot. Fox is...well what can I say that this picture doesn't? Fox is definitely a bad boy and he's most certainly all grown-up. But we know there's more to him than that. He's passionate, intelligent and has a past that breaks your heart and makes you fall in love with him all over again.
The character development is subtle, but don't be mislead, it's there. This is one of my favourite techniques that Singh uses in her writing. Her ability to write character development in a way that is so subtle you don't know it's happening unless you look for it. It's an amazing gift she has and one that makes me far too hyper when I get one of her novels. This book was an epic read. It was different and interesting, hot and enticing. It's a book I'd not only recommend to others, but it's also a book I'd read again, more than twice. I really enjoyed it and while this is a totally different take on Singh's work, it's a nice that will, hopefully, allow us to see just how good a writer Nalini Singh is. ----------------------------- *With special thanks to Ashwini for all her help and for the Bio provided. All rights reserved to Nalini Singh and Co. Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her room-mate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s Mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivalling Mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became the weapon in the first place.
This book is not for the faint of heart. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- With many stories you have a small bit of a drag with stories as they begin. The first few chapters start slow and then begin to pick up pace and interest, but a really important factor in writing is the ability to hook a reader in from the first work. What’s so different about Tijan’s Carter Reed is the amazing way she has begun the book. With action from the first page, the reader is completely and utterly hooked and pulled into the story. Emma is our main protagonist and she has an amazing role to play in this story. Her backstory is heart-breaking and interesting and her connection with Carter is like another piece of the puzzle, it fits. At the start I feared Emma would be another one of those characters that curl up in bed and hide for the whole story, but she proved me wrong and turned out to be an amazingly strong willed character full of fiery passion that holds the readers in enticement. Carter takes up his own POV throughout the book and I loved seeing things from Carter’s eyes, it really opens up a new view of the story world that Tijan has created in this story. Carter appears to the world as a cold hearted killer, but to Emma he’s the same boy she knew all those years ago. I loved the chemistry between Emma and Carter, from their very first meeting you could feel it bubbling beneath the surface and Tijan has done an extraordinary job of playing with that chemistry and making it something more. With action, romance, fear and secrets, Carter Reed is a must read for anyone looking for a different type of story that will enthral all readers from the get-go! An 'Enjoying the Chase' novella. Twelve overgrown man-children, sixteen hours, and a whole lot of liquor. Just how much fun can be had in one night? Join Nate, Ashton and their friends on a wild night out on the town. *NOTE* This is NOT a romance story, it's a short (approx 22 thousand word) humour sketch. It's an Enjoying the Chase novella featuring characters from my other published novels - Enjoying the Chase and Nothing Left to Lose. *WARNING - Contains spoilers for both books. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- One Wild Night is an amazingly humours read that left me laughing into the silent hours of the night! Having read Nothing Left To Lose and Enjoying The Chase, I couldn’t wait to read this short novella and catch up with Nate and Ashton once more. It was such a fun and enjoyable read. It’s one of those books that makes you laugh, snort and then blush in embarrassment when everyone looks your way! I loved this book so much and at such a great price and with all the author’s profits and royalties from the Ebook sales being donated to MacMillan Nurses, there really isn’t anything more you can ask for. One thing many of us fear when reading novellas is, will some of our best loved characters’ personalities have changed? Has the author written our favourite characters completely differently? This is something that I personally always worry. The authors sometimes fail in continuing the characters’ personality and it hits us readers hard. The greatest thing about One Wild Night is that Moseley seems to have carried Nate and Ashton’s personalities over with ease. We slip effortlessly back into their lives and enjoy the wild night they have ahead of them! If there is one thing I’ve certainly learnt from reading this book, it’s definitely to stay away from brunette hotties in seedy clubs, although I don’t think I’ve anything to fear… - Jade Lloyd For Mature Readers of 18+ Blurb: Two irresistible boys. One unforgettable summer.
Lori can't wait for her summer at the lake. She loves wakeboarding and hanging with her friends--including the two hotties next door. With the Vader brothers, she's always been just one of the guys. Now that she's turning sixteen, she wants to be seen as one of the girls, especially in the eyes of Sean, the older brother. But that's not going to happen--not if the younger brother, Adam, can help it. Lori plans to make Sean jealous by spending time with Adam. Adam has plans of his own for Lori. As the air heats up, so does this love triangle. Will Lori's romantic summer melt into one hot mess? This volume includes two books in one: The Boys Next Door and its sequel, Endless Summer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Endless Summer was the third book of Echols work I’ve ever read and after having read Forget You and Going Too Far I had big expectations for this book. I can honestly say that it definitely lived up to my expectation and more. I loved how I was able to read both books in one and I loved the beautiful, well written words this book generated. Endless Summer had a great storyline which also contained a good sense of humour. I love Lori so much, she is one of the best characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading and I – admittedly – found I could relate to her in more ways than one, her rather headstrong determination and uncanny blindness to not see the truth sooner. Yet she is a genuinely likable character with such a great nature. And Adam… Adam is perfect, in every way. He is the sort of guy girls always look past, the guy he is ‘second best’, the one who would never cheat or lie to a girl he loves. A true gentleman, and there aren’t many of those around anymore, which makes reading this book so much better. It really shows a girl just what – and who – she’s missing from her life. If you want a good read with likeable characters and one of the best YA romances I’ve ever had the pleasure to read, Endless Summer is definitely for you! Blurb: Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she's the best—but she doesn't know if she's good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, only one thing is clear—failure is not an option...even if the task is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad. The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other…and pull her to the razor's edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn't destroy her, succumbing to Raphael's seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break… --------------------------------------------------------------------- Angel’s Blood is one of the best vampire/angel books out there. I’ve read this book a number of times and I will definitely be reading it again soon. The language which Singh uses is very impressive, it’s the ‘voice’ every author wishes they have. The writing hooks the reader from the very first sentence and as I write my own work, I know just how hard and how significant this is. Elena Deveraux is courageous, honourable, brave, smart and badass. She is a well-crafted character who has the ability to reach out to readers, enabling the readers to relate to her in various ways. She is a true heroin of the time. Raphael is a dangerous archangel who can be a bit of a dick, but who has a heart that could capture and melt any girl. Dangerous but sexy is after all the new in. Singh writes from two POVs and she does this with Elena and Raphael. What fascinates me about this, is that Singh has managed to write from a male and female prospective. A lot of writers find it difficult to write from both POVs, yet Singh does so with remarkable skill. The only question is, is this book missing anything? The answer, no. And I don’t ever say that about books. Every book has room for improvement but Angel’s Blood is one of the very few, very rare books that is the closest books can come to perfection. (Contains Adult Content and sexual scenes. 18+) - Jade Lloyd. Kristy Moseley lives in Norfolk, England. She is married and is the proud mother of one little boy.
She published her first book in April 2012, ‘The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window,’ (Find review for The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window below) and she later published, ‘Always You.’ She has since published many more books including, ‘Free Falling’ and ‘Nothing Left to Lose.’ Blurb: Nate Peters is living the playboy life. He has great friends, a great job, no responsibilities, no girlfriend, and he loves it. Nate, being incredibly skilled with a pick-up line, has never failed to get a girl in his life… until one day he meets Rosie York. Rosie is completely uninterested in him. Being unable to stand a dented ego, Nate makes it his mission to win her over. Not used to putting in much effort, Nate is surprisingly enjoying the chase of this off-limits little brunette. Maybe he has finally met his match… But Rosie has a few surprises of her own which will make it remarkably more difficult for him to get close to her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enjoying the Chase is an amazingly well written piece of work and one of my very favourite books from Moseley. It was published up on Amazon as a self-published (kindle) Ebook and is now also available in paperback. The story of Rosie and Nate is brilliant. It feels so very, very real and down to earth. It’s a Romance from a different view point. Many Romance books out there today are aimed at teenage girls to young adults, yet this story, while I would categorise it as a YA Romance, has something different to it. Rosie has something that not many other female characters have in their stories and I love how Moseley has integrated this into Rosie’s character. I really did love and enjoy this book a heck of a lot. So much so, that even though I have the book on kindle, I’ve just order a paperback copy too! It really is a romance that will make you laugh, cry and scream in frustration. It’s an amazing book which I’d recommend to anyone looking for a great read. Although I don’t have much in common with Rosie you do get emotionally connected to her in a variety of ways. You can sympathize and relate to her situations and you can’t help but feel and almost experience the same pain, happiness and insecurities that Rosie goes through. Nate. Now what can I say about him! He’s everything you’d want in a guy if you wipe the whole ‘man-whore’ thing from the equation. He’s smart, sexy, funny, the muscle definition I could almost see while reading… I think I’m in love. His character development through the story is great to see and his personality suits him to a T. I could imagine a cocky grin with a shine of arrogance in his eyes, but his touch gentle and his heart true. It may sound sappy but this story is much more than just your average Romance. If you want a read that is different, entertaining and full of twists and turns, then you’ll Love ‘Enjoying the Chase.’ (Contains sexual scenes and strong language throughout. 18+) - Jade Lloyd. Blurb: 'You have to understand that we never meant for it to happen. We knew it was stupid. We knew it was wrong. ' Eighteen-year-old Danni Warren has big plans for her last summer before college: a cool job, a concert she wouldn’t miss for the world, and spending time with her beautiful girlfriend, Esme. But after one hell of an argument, Danni’s mother packs her off to stay with her estranged step-uncle, Gabe, in his lodge on the coast. So begins a weekend of the worst punishment imaginable: no phone signal. With his sunkissed good looks and sarcastic manner, twenty-nine-year-old Gabe isn’t anything like Danni expected. She wants to hate him—he’s her punishment for standing up to her mother—but between surfing lessons and beach hikes, they grow close. Maybe too close. Now Danni’s questioning everything: old family secrets, her future, her strained relationship with Esme. One sun stained afternoon, Gabe and Danni go too far. And then everything else falls apart... ............................................................................................................................................................ Twisted Summer is an remarkable read. I love how unique the storyline to this book is. I first read it on Kindle and loved every second of it, from beginning to end. The painful part was not having a second book to move onto. I’d love to be able to read more about their story, find out what happens later on. But maybe that book will come to pass some day in the future. Danni is such a great protagonist. Her characteristics are so finely written by Morgan that the connection you feel whilst reading is so mimetic, you laugh, cry and feel your heart quicken when she does. Each passing second of this book feels like your own journey. Gabe has an amazing air about him! His personality along with his easy going nature really allows you to see how Danni’s summer got a little twisted. He’s the kind of guy you fall in love with without realising you’ve done so. The setting, atmosphere, plot, storyline, characters and everything else about this book feels so very, very really. Morgan has managed to write a piece of dark romance that conveys a story we only ever touch on in our world. A sort of taboo subject that is thought but unspoken. Twisted Summer is wonderfully crafted and well written book and anyone looking for a fresh, unique and amazingly hot book, Twisted Summer is a must read for you! Blurb: Teagan Harper doesn’t have much experience with guys. Her twin brothers have made sure of that. Until one night at a college party she gives them the slip, finding herself in the arms of the most amazing guy she has ever met. Now she's on a mission to find him since she ran from his bed. And forgot to ask his name... Declan Sage has had control over his entire life. But that is all about to change when the girl who ran out of his bed turns his life upside down. She is about to throw that control out the window. But he’s pretty sure that’s a good thing seeing as she stole his heart.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Teagan Harper is our protagonist within this book and she is a girl with an amazing personality and a bit of a temper. What I loved about Teagan was that she didn’t pretend she didn’t have that hot temper, which I will admit is a lot like my own temper. She has had a, not average, but very loving upbringing with over protective brothers. Heath has really put the detail and focus into Teagan’s character and I think it shows clearly in her work. Declan Sage is anything but boring. His personality is swoon worthy and he has had the opposite upbringing to that of Teagan. He had to grow up quickly and make big decisions; he’s learnt to keep control and somewhat of an order to his life. That is, until he met Teagan. Their journey is complicated, their happy ending filled with obstacles from the go and their story heart breaking. This is a story that will make you laugh, make your cry and leave you sitting at the edge of your seat with your mouth hanging open. I did cry reading this book and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Heath plays on the emotions of every person who reads this book. If you love Adult Romance or YA Romance and you’re looking for something new and fresh, This Beautiful Thing is a must read!
