Nalini Singh lives in New Zealand, she has been writing for most of her life and all her novels have a thread of romance.
Her biggest selling series is her Psy-changeling books and her Guild Hunter Novels.
Blurb: Dive into a world torn apart by a powerful race with phenomenal powers of the mind—and none of the heart…
In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of “rehabilitation”— the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was….
Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a Changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy co-existence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several Changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion—and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities—or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation…

This is the first book in the Psy-changeling series and it is amazing.
Singh manages to create a new world, structured around our own, leaving it seeming familiar and realistic at the same time it is completely new.
Sascha Duncan’s character is so amazingly written then you really do forget you are just reading. In fact all the characters in this book are all well written. All having their own personalities and goals.
I love how Singh has seemingly divided the state of San Francisco into three parts, the Psy are the top of the food chain, they have the ruling hand (or so they think.) The wolves/leopards who have their own rules (and who are slowly moving up to the top of the food chain) and the humans, who seem to be exactly like we are!
There is so much action, suspense and romance that you end up reading way into the early morning. And speaking of romance, wow is it romance! If you’re looking for something hot, sexy and really, really perfect, then look no further than Slave to Sensation.
It is a great read that will leave you picking up the second book in the series, because once you read this book, you’ll be hooked for life.
Slave to sensation is one of those books that are rare, they are those really good books that you spend hours searching for and only ever find on rare occasions.
