Nalini Singh is the bestselling author of the ‘Psy-Changeling Series’ as well as the bestselling author of the ‘Guild Hunter’ Series.
Singh was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. She spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time she took the chance to travel around Asia.
She now currently lives in New Zealand.
If you know a lot about creative or even fiction writing, you’ll know that the development of a character is a beautiful thing, to be able to watch Sahara’s character evolve within the book shows just how good and exceptional a writer Singh is.
I was on pins waiting for this book to be released and almost stayed at home from a camping trip just so I could get my hands on the book, instead, I bought the book on kindle at what must have been 6 or 7AM on the day of this books release date and took my phone camping with me.
I can say, sitting on a bolder, at the top of a mountain I’d just hiked up, and reading this book, is one of my best memories of that camping trip!
This book is a sensational read. It will blow your mind away, heat your body to temperatures you never knew you could reach without melting and see the detailed art of character development being crafted before your eyes.
Heart of Obsidian is the twelfth book in the Psy-Changeling Series and if you want the full effect of this novel, then you have to read the first eleven books. Singh doesn’t sugar-coat her work by repeating over and over again what things mean, if you want to get the ‘whole’ story, read Slave to Sensation (Book 1 in the Psy-Changeling Series) first and make your way through the books!
An amazing read and one of the best books I have ever read.
For mature readers. Book contains content that some readers may find dark and graphically (hot!!!) sexual scenes. 18+

Blurb:
Step into New York Times bestseller Nalini Singh’s explosive and shockingly passionate Psy-Changeling world…
A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained blood red.
A woman whose very existence has been erased.
A love story so dark, it may shatter the world itself.
A deadly price that must be paid.
The day of reckoning is here.
From “the alpha author of paranormal romance” (Booklist) comes the most highly anticipated novel of her career—one that blurs the line between madness and genius, between subjugation and liberation, between the living and the dead.
Heart of Obsidian is, and always will be, one of the best reads of my life. I have loved each and every one of Singh’s books in both her Psy-Changeling Series and in her epic, action packed Guild Hunter Novels, yet there is something about this book that has literally encased my heart in obsidian shields.
Whether it be Kaleb’s perfect male persona or Sahara’s amazingly crafted character, this book has stolen a place in my top three. And that isn’t something I’d usually admit.
As a bookworm and writer, I know that when someone asks that impossible question, ‘What is your favourite book?’ the only answer you can give is a dumb look, one that implies the person speaking has completely lost their mind, and yet… I find myself more and more inclined to let three words from one title slip from my lips.
So I have to ask myself, what is it about Heart of Obsidian that has made this book, not just one of my top favourites, but a book I read at least every other month?
Kaleb is one of the best male characters I have read in a very long time. We get to read from his POV continuously throughout the book and as the book and plot deepen, you get pulled in. You lose yourself in the pages of this book as easy as you might drift into a restful sleep.
Sahara’s character… I don’t know how Singh did it! But she did! From insane to genius, Sahara develops as a character right in front of the readers eyes! It’s one of the most amazing things I have ever had the honour of reading.
