Misty Falls by Joss Stirling! Review coming...
On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood. She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine. An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains. Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince. Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night. Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- What can I say about this book? It was utterly enticing. It was a book that captured my attention from the very beginning. The chemistry between Sofia and Derek is amazing, the development of their romance fascinating and beautiful. The character development within the book is written and created really well and as the climax of the story builds, the more character development we see. Forrest has done an excellent job of writing a story so different that is leaves the reader begging for more by the end. The plot so well constructed that it surprised me by the levels at which Forrest had creatively taken this book to. With so many amazing things, I find I can't wait to read the rest of Forrest's series and hopefully find that her other books are just as enticing, as well written and as well constructed as this one has been. A Shade of Vampire is one of the best books I've read and is a book you Must Read Before You Die!! A well written book by an amazingly talented author! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Note* This book was given to me by the author (Bella Forrest) as an ARC over a year ago. It has taken me a long time to finally post this review and I want to apologise hugely to Bella for this. New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Nalini Singh is passionate about writing. I read this book a few days ago and I finished it from cover to cover in two days. I've even heard from various people that there has been mixed reactions to Singh's latest release (Not including Rock Courtship which is a novella - I'm currently reading that one). Lets be totally honest. I think the less 'enthusiatic' reviews of this book from other readers is envy. I understand their envy, they read Singh's work and think, 'I wish I could write like this!' I've no idea why people wouldn't love this book! It's amazing! Call me bias or call me crazy, but I really enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry between Fox and Molly and I feel while they certainly enjoyed playing between the sheets, this book wasn't based hugely on sex. For those who've already read the book, you may be thinking, 'Is she serious?' Yes, I am. Rock Addiction didn't follow the same storyline as most of Singh's well publicised books. There was no real antagonist, no life-threatening situations and certainly no paranormal in the mix. The storyline is fictional, yet it follows the mimetic styles, bringing a sense of realism to the story. It's an amazing change of Singh's writing styles - especially those we're used to - but in my opinion, I think this just proves just how good a writer Nalini Singh is. Molly's character is amazing. I felt an instant connection to her and I loved how she had a wild side that she tries to keep under wraps - I tried that once... it was the worst hour of my life and my parents thought I'd lost the plot. Fox is...well what can I say that this picture doesn't? Fox is definitely a bad boy and he's most certainly all grown-up. But we know there's more to him than that. He's passionate, intelligent and has a past that breaks your heart and makes you fall in love with him all over again.
The character development is subtle, but don't be mislead, it's there. This is one of my favourite techniques that Singh uses in her writing. Her ability to write character development in a way that is so subtle you don't know it's happening unless you look for it. It's an amazing gift she has and one that makes me far too hyper when I get one of her novels. This book was an epic read. It was different and interesting, hot and enticing. It's a book I'd not only recommend to others, but it's also a book I'd read again, more than twice. I really enjoyed it and while this is a totally different take on Singh's work, it's a nice that will, hopefully, allow us to see just how good a writer Nalini Singh is. ----------------------------- *With special thanks to Ashwini for all her help and for the Bio provided.
