On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.
She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

What can I say about this book? It was utterly enticing. It was a book that captured my attention from the very beginning. The chemistry between Sofia and Derek is amazing, the development of their romance fascinating and beautiful.
The character development within the book is written and created really well and as the climax of the story builds, the more character development we see.
Forrest has done an excellent job of writing a story so different that is leaves the reader begging for more by the end. The plot so well constructed that it surprised me by the levels at which Forrest had creatively taken this book to.
With so many amazing things, I find I can't wait to read the rest of Forrest's series and hopefully find that her other books are just as enticing, as well written and as well constructed as this one has been.
A Shade of Vampire is one of the best books I've read and is a book you Must Read Before You Die!!
A well written book by an amazingly talented author!

* Note* This book was given to me by the author (Bella Forrest) as an ARC over a year ago. It has taken me a long time to finally post this review and I want to apologise hugely to Bella for this.
